continuing with the idea of 'it was only a matter of time', BMX finally made its debut today at the Olympics in China. who would've thought that an activity highly founded in street/urban culture could make it to the grandest of competitive stages? sure the X-Games were an achievement of their own, but to be amidst competitions that have been around for centuries is on a completely different level. although it is possible that the introduction of BMX into the Olympics will pave the way for other "non-traditional" sports, yet competitions nonetheless, to be considered in the close to near future (golf on one boring end of the spectrum, breakdancing on the other interesting end), the fact that the world is willing and accepting of new ways of doing things is a good sign of hopefully positive things to come.C
